On Saturday, October 28, 2006, one of the largest oil refineries in the world, HOVENSA, celebrated 40 years existence on St. Croix, Virgin Islands in the beautiful, historic town of Frederiksted. Thousands of people jammed the streets swaying to the calypso beat of multiple bands and salivating to the smell of native cuisine consisting of stew goat, pates, Vienna cake, fry fish and Johnny cake and other delicacies. Sunset Jazz featured local band, V.I. Rhythm Section and Grammy Award winning Latin jazz flautist Dave Valentin. Fireworks blistered the sky to the delight of thousands of people. A short parade also provided entertainment. It was a grand birthday celebration.
